Autism ADHD therapy Essy Knopf

Pronouns: He/Him

I am deeply passionate about supporting individuals who often feel misunderstood, marginalized, or burdened by challenging experiences.

I am especially drawn to helping neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ folks, couples in which one or both people are neurodivergent, and those who have experienced complex PTSD.

How my passion developed

As someone who is autistic and ADHD, has complex PTSD, and identifies as gay, gray-ace/aceflux, and demisexual, I understand the struggle of not fitting into the conventional mold and feeling neither accepted nor understood by family, friends, colleagues, and society.

Growing up, I frequently experienced feelings of shame and isolation, feeling as if I were on the fringes of life, looking in.

What I've learned is that breaking the silence that often shrouds shame and embracing our identities can be profoundly transformative.

This realization serves as the cornerstone of my therapy practice, driving my commitment to cultivating a safe and nurturing space where clients feel empowered to share, explore, and embrace their identities.

How I live out my passion as a therapist

In my practice, my top priority is to create a warm and welcoming space where you can be yourself and express yourself authentically, without any fear of judgment.

My goal is for you to leave each session not only feeling seen, heard, and validated but also supported.

I understand the frustration of attending therapy sessions seeking guidance and leaving empty-handed. That’s why I work hard to provide practical strategies to help you tackle any challenges you might face.

I am committed to creating a safe space for exploration, ensuring that your voice matters, and fostering an environment where personal growth is not only possible but celebrated at every step.

How I help others

My therapy style is about being straightforward yet approachable. I really value and seek your honest feedback, and have found this practice is essential for building a deep and effective therapeutic relationship.

My goal is to ease any feelings of shame associated with feeling different or marginalized, enabling you to heal and achieve the success you seek.
